Imperfect Barriers
2014-2016
Watercolor, ink, gouache on paper
The series “Imperfect Barriers” take the unraveling diamond grid of a chain-link fence as its starting point, at once an abstract pattern and a depiction of a physical structure. By focusing on moments of disruption, the inherent power structure of the fence is made visible. The resulting patchwork is the trace of an unresolved conflict that hints at the underlying impulse to erect spatial barriers, be they walls, fences or windows.
Leaked Prints

Monoprints
A series of monoprints created during my artist residency at Scuola Internazionale di Grafica, Venice, Italy. The work I created in their historic printmaking workshop culminated in a solo exhibition in the Scuola Internazionale di Grafica gallery.
Headlines announcing leaked albums, data, papers, etc… ask us to imagine content as contained liquid vulnerable to leaks, spills and breaches. “Leaked Prints” reveals a process that embraces chance within an entropic system. Contrary to the traditional aim of printmaking to produce multiples, these monotypes cannot be duplicated. Traces of linear forms swim through a murky watercolor architecture, whose geometric forms are embossed and degraded through a process that cannot be reversed.
