"Phases of the Fake Moon" ink on paper, grid of 20 drawings, 50 cm x 65 cm each, 2009. “Phases of the Fake Moon” are drawings necessarily made in the dark. The process of tracing a reflection of a shadow of a net placed on a round mirror is comparable to being inside a rudimentary camera. It is also analogous to how the moon is illuminated by reflected light, its shape defined by shadow. This pseudo-scientific process yielded the grid of drawings. Like a cloud, the net can evoke a myriad of associations, but its endlessly shifting form is what I find most useful.
