The Legibility of Shadows (with Social Climber wallpaper)
Kreuzberg Pavillon, Berlin
2011
The Legibility of Shadows consists of three shadow boxes with painted cracks. The three boxes are a gradation, starting with the painted image being darker and more present than the shadow it casts inside the box. The second box has a lighter image, similar in tone to the shadow. In the third box, the painted image disappears, leaving only the cast image of the shadow. The image of the cracks is the same pattern repeated.
Each box measures 48x25x15 cm.

Social Climber (Template given away to visitors)
xerox copies, dimensions variable, 2010 - ongoing
The three shadow boxes are hung against a patterned wallpaper made on a copy machine. A template for the wallpaper was given away at the opening, along with instructions on how to make your own. Social Climber was first installed at "Dump Art" 2010, then in the Castle Inn Gallery, PA for Transregional Aesthetics, and more recently as pictured here at the Kreuzberg Pavillon, for the exhibition "Follow the Broken" 2011.
