"Column Reflect"

This installation was part of my contribution to the collaborative project "GP Site Exploration," which took place at Golden Parachutes, Berlin, May-July 2010.

The perspectival drawing references the columns supporting a parking structure that spans over a vacant lot near the gallery. The space between the outer two columns happened to be identical to the width of the gallery wall, and in order to maintain a true scale relationship, the painted columns turn onto the ceiling. My work was part of a larger collaborative project meant to link the gallery space to the site of the vacant lot.
Visitors walked between the two spaces, and so the ethereal outline of the columns in the gallery references the memory of the visceral experience of the massive cement columns onsite.
